Gisele Bündchen Shows a Rare Moment of Vulnerability When Talking About Tom Brady Divorce

When Gisele Bündchen announced her divorce from Tom Brady in 2022, she appeared to be ready to move on. The supermodel had widely shared that she was ready to prioritize herself again and heat up her fashion career which took her to the tops of her industry. Bündchen’s confidence shouldn’t be confused, though, it was still an emotional moment in her life

Fans will get to see a rare vulnerable side to the 43-year-old star in an upcoming special with Robin Roberts, IMPACT x Nightline: Gisele Bündchen: Climbing the Mountain. ABC News shared a teaser that shows how raw she still feels about their split. “Everything I’ve experienced, it made me realize what I want and what I don’t want,” the video clip begins as Bündchen talked about her life and career. “At the end of the day, like, if you’re not truthful to who you are, then it doesn’t work.” It seems like the fashion icon is hinting about the tail end of her relationship with the former NFL star, but Roberts then gets to the heart of the matter.

The Good Morning America anchor reminded Bündchen that she described her divorce from Brady as “the death of a dream.” She followed up with the question that usually gets everyone sobbing when they are going through a hard time, and asked, “How are you?” That’s when the waterworks began, and the former Victoria’s Secret Angel’s voice cracked. “Well, when you say…,” her voice trailed off as she took a deep breath. “Sorry, guys… I didn’t know. Can I have a little moment?”

Bündchen made headlines in a 2022 ELLE story ahead of their divorce announcement after Brady decided to unretire. It sounded like she wanted to have her needs taken care of by her husband after years of not being heard. “I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams,” she told the outlet. “I have a huge list of things that I have to do, that I want to do. At 42, I feel more connected with my purpose.”

The upcoming ABC News feature will air on Hulu on Thursday, March 7 and give a very realistic look at a breakup in the public eye. Bündchen might have put on a brave face at the 2023 Met Gala red carpet with her first solo appearance in two decades, but behind closed doors, there was obviously a lot of pain. Her fresh start is something she seems eager to pursue, but the memories of the past are also bittersweet.
