Mschf has been wreaking havoc on the sneakerverse since 2016. From Lil Nas X's very controversial satanic kicks to the Astro Boy-inspired Big Red Boots, the Brooklyn art collective is no stranger to… well, strange trainers. And it gets weirder with the Mschf x Reebok Pump Omni Zone IX collab.

Teaming up for the very first time, the Pump Omni Zone IX has been unveiled in two colourways, including a classic ‘White’ and 'Blue' palette and the faux-aged ‘Sunbleached’, which has been specifically designed to look like it's been sitting in the archives for the past couple of decades.

Sneaker history buffs will know that the Pump Omni Zone IX doesn't actually exist. That's because this silhouette is actually based off of the Pump Omni Zone from the ‘80s, but Mschf has added eight additional Pump buttons across the entire upper, and 1 + 8 = 9 (the maths be mathin'.)

Traditionally, Pumps worked in unison with the ankle section to tighten and loosen it while you're on the go. While the one on the tongue still works wonders, the other ones are purely cosmetic, with some reading “The Pump” and others “The Mschf.” Around the back, “Boing Boing” is stitched on, and this theme extends towards the midsole that's etched with “Boing Boing Technology” rather than the usual Hexalite foam branding. Why? Because Mschf.

The Mschf x Reebok Pump Omni Zone IX marks the New York City label's second big name collab this year after the Crocs x Mschf Big Yellow Boot, and it's a clear sign that the highly-competitive trainer industry is finally beginning to take it seriously. Set to drop on the Mschf webstore and the Mschf Sneakers app on September 27, they'll be priced at around £200 each.
