For more than 30 years, Minga Peru has been supporting and strengthening communities in the Loreto region of Peru with an innovative program based on communications through radio and grassroots leadership development for women.
 
Join this webinar to learn about Peru, the Kukama people who live in the Loreto region, and the programs that have made Minga Peru a successful model for similar programs throughout Central and South America.
 
Yale Alumni Service Corps is partnering with Minga Peru on a program in the summer of 2021: YASC Along the Maranon.

Luis Gonzales

Luis Gonzales

Gonzales is the co-founder and program director of Minga Peru. Luis has worked as an experienced organizer working collaboratively with grassroots communities throughout Latin America since 1994 and has been a driving force behind the theory, practice, evaluation, and documentation of Minga's internationally organized, intercultural model for social change.

Jenna Houchins

Jenna Houchins

Jenna supports Minga as a sustainability advisor for Amazon programs. Jenna is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign and holds a degree in Global Studies with a focus on sustainable business development in Latin America. After completing her studies, she worked for two years in Human Resources and Recruiting, and then served in the Peace Corps Volunteer in the Community Economic sector from 2016 - 2020. Jenna will be pursuing her MBA at Duke University this fall.

Kathy Edersheim '87

Kathy Edersheim '87

Edersheim is the producer for the YASC program in Peru scheduled for 2021. She is secretary of the Yale Alumni Service Corps and has been on 10 trips, including producing China 2011 and Ghana 2012. Kathy is the founder and president of Impactrics, an alumni relations and community organizing consulting firm.

Nick Morton

Nick Morton

Morton assists in developing and marketing Minga’s sustainable educative tourism program, Minga Tour, as well as assisting with the logistics of visiting groups. He completed a dual degree in Environmental Science and Political Science from Iowa State University. Nick served as a Peace Corps Water and Sanitation Extension volunteer in Peru from 2016 to 2018.
