Nurse in famous WWII Times Square kiss photo has died

Edith Shain, the nurse who was captured in an iconic photograph being kissed by a celebrating sailor in Times Square on V-J Day, died Sunday at age 91.

Shain had been working at Doctor's Hospital in New York City on Aug. 14, 1945 when she was grabbed and smooched by an unknown soldier, Reuters reported. Alfred Eisenstaedt's photo of the moment was published in Life magazine and became famous.
