45% Tomatometer 11 Reviews Richmond Trinity Hospital's Chief Nursing Officer Christina Hawthorne loves her job, despite the long days and nights she spends on the hospital's front lines. She does everything possible to help her patients and defend her staff, even if that means violating protocol or taking on doctors or administrators who sometimes lose sight of a hospital's true purpose. But her intense focus at work comes with a cost to her personal life, now that she's a single mother -- her husband recently lost a battle with cancer -- trying to raise a rebellious teenage daughter. Critics Consensus

Hawthorne is notable for its star and dramatic plot lines, but never quite established itself among other medical dramas currently airing.

Randee Dawn Hollywood Reporter A fairly standard hospital drama told from the point of view of the nurses. Sep 17, 2019 Full Review Alan Sepinwall Newark Star-Ledger If you want a show with engaging characters and drama, and not just a public service announcement about the very real value of our country's nurses, then "Hawthorne" fails to deliver Jun 16, 2009 Full Review Michael Starr New York Post I'm not buyin' it. And neither will you. Rated: 1.5/4 Jun 16, 2009 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba "HawthoRNe" is bland, hopelessly idiotic drivel immersed in enough sugar to kill an army of diabetics. Jun 15, 2018 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette The "Hawthorne" pilot, directed by Mikael Solomon, moves like a freight train from the start and sustains a decent pace throughout. Jun 16, 2009 Full Review Leigh H. Edwards PopMatters HawthoRNe's bracing combination of fast-paced professional crises and personal tensions is leavened by the banter she shares with fellow nurses and their somewhat comic dating tribulations. Azurina Depressing, with no happy ending. Too much drama between the characters and others who disappeared without explanation. The show became darker and darker with huge workplace problems and personal conflicts, some threads could have been handled more positively. Disturbing. It is meant to be a medical drama, but there was less 'medical' as time went on. I would not watch again. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/22/22 Full Review Audience Member I'm just watched the entire seasons ( In 2020 show Air: 2009 I think) by provider "Starz" on my Fire Stick. The story line is Representing the life and mostly career of Nursing Director " Hawthorne"; Christina Hawthorne! I really enjoyed the story, I feel she was caring, loving, professional and showed great concern for all her coworkers, patients and anyone that needed her. There wasn't a lot of time for self, that she gave to her teen daughter, and memory of Michael her deceased husband ( died of cancer)! Then they gave her a love interest, instead of letting she and Dr. Tom remain good friends, they made a mistake ( giving into love, and gets pregnant and marrying), and to make it even worse, she's atttacked on her wedding night, in the hospital's parking garage lost her baby and it was like know one cares about her? Not even Tom. Everyone seemed to make it be her fault. Detective Nick Renata, first appears looking for Isabel ( a homeless friend of Christina and nurse Bobbie; who he thought kidnapped her son from foster home)! was a real bad mistake, never should have been allowed him to be made a love interest! However, just my thoughts watch for yourselves! I enjoyed watching, the medical wheels at work and all the doctors, nurses and hospital staff doing what matter! Ending, what ending! Christina has decided to focus on herself, her daughter Camille as told her she going back to finish college. Tom comes by to finally own up to his mistakes in their broken marriage, as he is leaving Nick pulls up they watch one another. Nick, go inside to talk to Christina about her good-bye letter to him ( after his mother's death he had been missing for days), He doesn't try to change her mind, just let her know his feelings for her. After he leaves, Christina a little shaken locks her doors, then a shots rings out, Nick has been shot, she runs to car no phone, no call ( 911), pulls him out the car, head in her lap and calls out for help?? What ending? That is the way it ended ! All characters: Christina, Camille, Dr. Tom, Mrs. Hawthorne, David, nurses Ray, Kelly, Candy, homeless Isabel, Social worker Susan,Nurse Grace at the new hospital( James River)was amazing Drs. Marshall, Steve, Will hospital CEO and others were great! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
