Quick No-Sew Crochet Flower Bookmark Pattern

| | | |

Here is a super easy and quick crochet flower bookmark pattern by Craft Alotl. We love a quick crochet project that you can complete quickly and easily and this flower bookmark is one of these. It is also great for any yarn or wool scraps you have, as you don’t need very much yarn to make these. They are also a great last minute gift to add to any books you are gifting during the holiday season or for birthdays! Or.. if you run a little free library like us, you can add the bookmarks there too!

How to crochet a flower bookmark

This is a beginner-friendly pattern and a great way to practice some basic crochet stitches!

Supplies needed for this little flower bookmark:

  • Yarn in flower colour and green
  • A corresponding crochet hook to go with your yarn thickness

Hook size really is important for crochet – if your hook is too large, it will result in loose crochet that doesn’t look very neat! So if in doubt, use a slightly smaller crochet hook.

Crochet Abbreviations used:

We used American crochet terminology throughout. Also, we have a fantastic set of beginner crochet videos that you can browse at your leisure. These include everything from how to hold your yarn, to magic circles and how to do a half double crochet etc.

  • MC – Magic Circle (also known as magic ring)
  • Ch – chain
  • SC – Single Crochet
  • DC – Double Crochet
  • HDC – Half Double Crochet
  • Slst – Slip stitch (also seen as SS on other patterns)

Crochet Flower Bookmark Pattern

As mentioned this is a free crochet pattern! For personal use only!

Small flower in pink for petals

Start by making 5 petals into a magic circle:

01: Into MC, (Ch 2, 2 dc, 1 hdc, Slst) x5

Stem and leaf in green

Change colour to green to make the long flower stem (make sure to still be attached to the flower):

02: Ch to the length of your book (here it is 58 ch)

And now we make the little green leaf to dangle at the bottom (still stay attached)

03: Ch 8, skip 1st stitch, 2 Slst, Sc, hdc, 2dc, hdc, Slst, on the other side of the 8ch, Slst, hdc, 2dc, hdc, sc, 2 Slst

Fasten off an sew in ends.
