A journey between word and image, sound and poetry in the exhibition “Intermedia. Archive of New Writing”

A rustle of radios turned on, fragments of individual voices and melodies, between changes of rhythm and accelerations: it is everyday life that enters into art. In his work Radio Music John Cage uses sound material taken from everyday life and transformed electronically.

Chance is the main “matter” used by John Cage (1912-1992) in his works from the 1950s. Composer, music theorist, poet and artist, Cage was a pioneer of electronic music also known for his unconventional use of traditional instruments. He is considered one of the greatest exponents of the neo-avant-garde after the Second World War and one of the precursors of the Fluxus movement.
