I like this book since I'd help me with my moving on and acceptance that I am not perfect and loving again after a vicious destruction of my heart is always possible.

So, I private read this book yesterday just to see the hype surrounding this collection. I'm only four pages in and I can't help laughing with what I just read. The prose is basic and shallow. Very Tumblr-esque and nothing is special on it.

The reason I hated this poetry collection was the author viewed us women as damsel in distress. Are we that desperate for attention and validation when we're going through pain? We're stronger and more independent than what you think.

Is it worth reading this collection? HELL. NO. There are better books to read written by Filipino authors that are worth reading.

First of all, the first half of the book was problematic. So problematic, it basically romanticizes the pain of others, specifically women. I didn't really get the poetic vibe of the book if the author meant to make it poetic (obviously, suffering ISN'T poetic). Secondly, it's like one of those messages I have read of facebook posts. More like a compilation of facebook posts. Lastly, it seemed like words were just forced or had seemed like it had been written by my high school self in my diary only in a third person point-of-view. I've never read a book I bought so fast in my entire life just because I wanted to reach the end of it and so that I wouldn't think too much of the money I wasted. The only thing I liked about it is because it looked kind of aesthetic. Never judge a book by its cover, indeed.

Maybe You'll Love Me When I'm Gone is a "poetry" collection which has very basic and shallow prose and shows the author in a negative light in my opinion.
This was 122 pages of a male author solely seeing women as damsels in distress and shows that he has no idea how strong and resilient women are. Further I believe he has plagiarised this entire collection which makes it even worse.

Very Tumblr-esque and not helpful to anyone!

I was not expecting this to be a quick read but once I had picked it up, I wasn't able to put it down. I knew there was a reason why I had bought this five years ago but reading it now after such a long time that it had been on the shelf, I realized that most of the words that were written here, I had unknowingly learnt in the last six years after a failed relationship. All I ever did while reading this book was nod in agreement as every word, every musings written, really hit a spot.

Pretty basic and it feels like I’m reading tweets or Facebook posts. Idk but I’m kinda annoyed when reading women’s POV/ struggles written by men. Suitable for light reading I guess but not for anyone who’s expecting for poetries or anything

This felt like a Tumblr post, it shows no real poetry and worst of all was super cliche, heteronormative and too much in your face with the "God will save you"... 🙄 I never rolled my eyes so much in my life.

Lmao didn't he plagiarize most of the contents of this book? The Filipino side of Twitter has been exposing him lately, the tea is always scalding.

Bad book with a good cover reminds me not to judge a book by its cover.

"I READ THIS SOMEWHERE" feels.
