How to Date a Douchebag #1

The Studying Hours

Rate this book
CRUDE. ARROGANT. A**HOLE.
No doubt about it, Sebastian ‘Oz’ Osborne is the university’s most celebrated student athlete—and possibly the biggest douchebag. A walking, talking cliché, he has a filthy mouth, a fantastic body, and doesn’t give a sh*t about what you or anyone else thinks.

SMART. CLASSY. CONSERVATIVE.
Make no mistake, Jameson Clarke may be the university’s most diligent student—but she is no prude. Spending most of her time in the hallowed halls of the library, James is wary of pervs, jocks, and douchebags—and Oz Osborne is all three.

She’s smart, sarcastic—and not what he expected.

…EVERY DOUCHBAG HAS HIS WEAKNESS.

He wants to be friends.
He wants to spend time with her.
He wants to drive her crazy.

He wants…

Her.

How to Date a Douchebag: The Studying Hours is one of those books that has been on my TBR for FOREVER! It’s been recommended to me so many times, but I never found the time to fit it in. Thankfully, it became available on audio, so I got to it right away! I’m kicking myself for waiting so long to read this book! It’s been a while since I’ve read a great NA/college romance and this one really hit the spot!
“Sweetheart, Oz is a nickname. Haven’t you googled me yet?”Amused blue eyes roll. “I’m sure you google yourself enough for the both of us.”
Shit, she’s right. I do google myself a lot.

Oz was seriously hilarious. He cracked me up! I loved the back and forth between him and James. They are that couple that shouldn’t go together at all, but somehow, they work.

Sebastian ‘Oz’ Osbourne is a douchebag. He’s a jock that’s a bit full of himself, but he’s got more under the surface than that. Jameson Clarke is a conservative cardigan wearing serious student on the outside, but she’s also fun and snarky. These two were fabulous together. Yes, it’s a little typical, the manwhore athlete falls for the librarian type serious student, but I didn’t even care. Their chemistry was off the charts!

This book was hella fun, and the narration was fantastic. I can’t recommend the audio book enough! I can’t believe this is my first Sara Ney book. You better believe I’ll be reading more! Diving into the next Douchebag book (Zeke’s) asap and I can’t wait!

I'm finding it harder and harder to enjoy college romances (and YA in general), unless the story is exceptionally unique. I’m not sure why that is, maybe it’s because I’ve read so many of them.

Or maybe…

Anyway, I didn’t pick this one up because it was a college romance. I picked it up because of the douchebag. Love me some jerks and all that.

This book is so cliché it's ridiculous: A popular manwhore jock falls for a nerd after a dare.

Forget everything I’ve ever said about hating clichéd and predictable stories...

*puppy eyes*

Normally, I would have sprained my eyes from rolling them so hard but it actually worked out in this book. I can't explain why, I just know that I loved this book. Hard. Maybe it's because it was so fun and full of witty banter, funny situations, awesome characters, scorching chemistry…. And no OTT drama, thank God!

Clichéd storyline? Immature behavior? Who cares? I had fun, didn’t I?

4.5 Jim + Oz STARS

description

The hilarious title cleverly sums up the storyline for this book. The hero, Sebastian 'Oz' Osbourne, who will slowly fall and see the heroine, Jameson Clark, as his everything by the end of the book. It may sound simple yet it takes our hero a while to catch on. Taking one arrogant, sex driven, college wrestler, and have him become interested in the sarcastic, cardigan wearing girl in the library, makes for one seriously entertaining love story!

description

Sebastian ‘Oz’ Osbourne is a self-centered, egotistical, jock, who is a walking cliché. However, he sure becomes intrigued by Jameson Clark and that bet based kiss they shared in the library.

description

Sebastian says and does typical douchebag stuff all the while Jameson feels attracted to him yet will not give in since she wants more than what he’s offering her.

”James baby, I want you to ride me all the way to sexy town.” “Wait. What? He did not just say that.”

description

The banter and dialogue is simply hilarious as Sebastian can’t stay away from Jameson yet his budding feelings are slow to register with him. Page after page, I laughed at the stuff they said to one another.

”Sweetheart, Oz is a nickname. Haven’t you googled me yet?” Amused blue eyes roll. “I’m sure you google yourself enough for the both of us.” Shit, she’s right I do google myself a lot.”

description

The sexual tension between these two is combustible. A reader must enjoy the ride till their relationship progresses them to coupledom. The male pov is terrific as is our relatable heroine’s.

”Wonderful and awful,” she whispers. “Beautiful and forgettable. That’s how you make me feel, all at the same time.”

description

It’s well written, snarky, story that’s pacing is a bit slow at times (thus not a 5 star) yet it’s a fun read and the reward of the ending is definitely worth it. I’m super excited to see the #1 next to the title. Sara Ney has gifted the first book and couple of yet another great college series to follow!

”Do you feel that, Jameson?” he implores breathlessly. “Can you feel it beating?” I can. “That’s for you. No one else makes me feel this way; no one has ever made me feel this way. No woman. No coach. No opponent makes my heart race the way—“

5 unbelievably good stars

Attention: at around 56% don't give up:-)

Loved, loved, loved it.

The Studying Hours (How to Date a Douchebag, #1) was drama free, very funny, sexy and sweet. Exactly what I needed to get out of my book funk.

A pearl necklace and cardigan wearing heroine, who was sassy and snarky and gave as good as she got.

A star wrestler with commitment issues who turned out to be a perfect example for a book boyfriend.

Those two couldn't have been more awesome. They were perfectly compatible in an opposite attract kind of way, and wow it worked!! The couple had a wonderful and steamy chemistry from the very first encounter and of course lead to awesome sexy times. It was a slow burn kind of relationship. From friends to lovers. NO insta-love.

There was nothing in this book I didn't love.

I had the best of times. So much laughing, smiling, chuckling. And I can't wait for the next one.

Overall Opinion: This was ok, but I think it could've been better. Even though I did enjoy them -- it never really got all that deep into the characters. Anything of substance about their family life or background came in the form of short mentions in inner dialogue of past conversations. I think it would've been better if we experienced some of those conversations, instead of just being told about them. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable read. It was a pretty low drama, slow burn, friends to lovers story. The H is indeed a douche at first, but he comes around and ends up being a pretty good guy. There are some scenes at the beginning that I know some of my safety gals won't like , so I'm sure it won't be for everyone.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is James and Sebastian's story. Sebastian joins a bet with his friends that he can get James to kiss him when they see her in the library. After some flirting and James shooting down Sebastian's advances, she agrees to split the bet money and kisses him. After that day and running into each other some more, Sebastian is drawn to her in a way that he isn't used to. They end up forming a strong friendship, and that friendship eventually turns into more...and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between James and Sebastian's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No, they are friends before they have stronger feelings.

H rating: 4 stars. Sebastian/Oz. I liked him. He takes a while to warm up to because he is a douche at first -- but stick with it! He becomes a pretty good H IMO.

h rating: 4 stars. Jameson/James. I really liked her wit, and her ability to put the H in his place.

Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Moderate. They have great tension, and even though they take a while to be intimate -- it is hot!

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes. Mentions of condom use, but I don't remember any mention of previous practices.

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating: No

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Yes, but mild

Closure: This had ok closure, but I would've loved a jump ahead epilogue seeing them as an adult couple. I would call it a HFN ending.

How I got it: I paid the $2.99 on Amazon for it.

Safety: This is probably either Safe with exception or depending on personal preferences.

College romance, what is it about these books that I love so much? Well let me tell you, this book was THE perfect example of what one should be. It had tension in spades, a gorgeous as all get out hero, who let's face it, is a douche with a capital D, and a heroine who had the absolute best snarky banter. No lie, she was amazing, and I was crushing on her big time.

Jameson AKA James, favours cardigans and pearl necklaces, loves to study a lot, and is a bit of a plain Jane.. on the outside. On the inside, however, she is funny, sassy, and has a bit of a naughty streak.

"Under the plain cardigan sweaters, the prim pearl necklace, the refined black patent leather shoes, Jameson Clark is sporting some prime, Grade A hairless pussycat inside her pants."

Sebastian 'Oz' Osbourne is the douche in our story, he's on the wrestling team and his favourite subject is sex, talking about it, doing it, he's up for anything involving it, and he makes no apologies.

"This guy is an energy-filled livewire of testosterone; he’s the opposite of what I’m looking for despite not really knowing what that is."

Opposites attract so they say, and when they end up becoming study buddies, sparks fly and chemistry ensues, and these two characters had me laughing out loud, and chomping at the bit for them to get it on.

I guess I'd describe this as friends-to-lovers, James was not up for being a one night stand and makes this adamantly clear from the beginning. Sebastian really has to work hard to get his rewards, and that was the best bit about the book.

I urge my fellow college romance lovers to pick this one up, you won't regret it. Looking forward to the next character in the series, he was an even bigger douche than Seb, so that will be an interesting ride I'm sure.

Top marks for Sara Ney, I completely adored everything about it.

The Studying Hours is a standalone New Adult romance, told in dual POV (but predominantly from Sebastian.)

Review at Of Pens and Pages.

As far as new adult sports romances go, How to Date a Douchebag: The Studying Hours doesn’t have the most unique plot out there. In fact, it’s pretty cliché. The douchebag athlete, the surprisingly non-nerd nerd, a dare, sparks. But Sara Ney wrote it in a way that made it refreshing and a delight to read. She made her characters likable, the banter witty and hilarious, and the sexual tension sizzling and well-written.

Meet douchebag #1: Sebastian “Oz” Osbourne, the team captain of the university wrestling team. He’s arrogant, self-assured, and can make panties fall with a wink or a smirk. He knows how good-looking and famous he is, and hasn’t been shy about using it to get laid. He’s pretty confident he can get anyone to sleep with him.

Meet girl who won’t sleep with him #1: Jameson Clarke, one of the most diligent and prim and proper-looking students at school. She wears cardigans, her pearl necklace, and has no tolerance for, wait for it… douchebags. And so when Oz approaches her in the library, she isn’t even fazed. In fact, she barely even looks at him. A first for Oz Osbourne.

Oz and his friends first dismiss Jameson as a prude, but she proves them otherwise a bet and $500 later. Oz wants to jump her, but she wants nothing to do with him. Serendipity and a very persistent Oz leads to more library and school campus encounters, and soon, the two are study buddies. Not exactly the type of buddy Oz wants, but he’ll take it. Jameson is surprisingly funny and relatable.

The chemistry between the main characters is amazing! And not just in bed. Their friendship and library sessions (get your mind out of the gutter haha it isn’t like that at first) made me smile. Oz, like most NA heroes, is pretty much a horndog who has sex on the brain almost 24/7. He never loses his sexual attraction for Jameson, but I loved watching him become friends with her. Almost as much as I loved when they were finally together.

I would have wanted to see more about Jameson’s life. She’s a snarky and sassy woman who effortlessly dismisses Oz’s advances, she’s ace at snowboarding, and her grades are above average. I would have loved to know more about her life before college the way Oz’s was shown. I thought we’d see more about what her life’s like before Oz, especially since the author put much intrigue regarding her pearls and outfit (which have been addressed, if a little abrupt and anticlimactic). Other than that, I loved the book!

How to Date a Douchebag: The Studying Hours is a standalone NA Sports Romance told in dual POVs. It was fun, angst-free, and satisfied the slow burn fan in me. If you’re looking for a light and funny friends-to-lovers romance with a lovable a-hole and a sassy heroine, you might enjoy this one!

➦I'm not entirely sure what kept me away from reading this series for so long. Ok, let's face it - there are just too many books. T.T #bloggerproblems But I've been doing a lot of catching up on older releases lately and I've stumbled upon these audiobooks, picked this first one up... and the rest is history. I don't even know what to say about these. Lately I've been sucking at this reviewing business, so bare with me... ok, here goes:

➦It's been AGES since I've read a great college romance. Rachel Van Dyken's Wingmen Inc was probably the last one that comes to mind. But anyway, if you love new adult college romances then you absolutely will love these books. They have humor, steam (soooo hot!) and even a good dose of angst.

➦Sometimes you just want to be in the head of some slightly immature person who doesn't have a care in the world except discovering themselves etc etc and all that awesome shtuff.

➦Oh, and on top of it being a NA novel, it's also sort of a sports romance (not heavy on sport) and you will probably enjoy ogling hot wrestlers even if it's all inside your head. So yeah, enjoy the visuals :D

I'm equal parts kicking myself for not reading this sooner and grateful to my friend for talking me into giving it a shot. I have no clue why I thought this series was set in High School but that's what was keeping me away and I was so wrong. Yes, I can admit when I'm wrong.

I ended up really liking these characters and their stories. James kind of proves that what you see isn't always what you get. Oz took one look at her and assumed she was some dowdy girl that rarely leaves the library. But when he gets to know her he learns that she's always up for some fun - just not with him.

Oz had to work his way into James' life and getting to see that was very intriguing. It made me fall for both of these characters and I was their own personal romance cheerleader cheering them on. They had a great banter with one another that drew me in also. I liked that they could both be witty and fun mixed with the sexiness they both brought to the story.

I'll definitely be reading on in this series and can't wait to see what else Sara Ney has for us in the form of some hot douchebags.

Even though I enjoyed this book and found some parts quite funny, it felt like it was missing something pretty much the entire way through. The characters felt very immature and over the top crude and were severely underdeveloped - the author only ever touched the surface, never showing any real depth.

The writing was pretty good (ignoring the good amount of editing issues I noticed), I found the chapter quotes very funny, and there were some rather sweet moments. But for me it really lacked the wow factor. This one was cute, but nothing in it blew me away. Will I read the others? Maybe. But this author's writing seems to be something I'll have to be in the mood for.

Now that is how you write a college sports romance. Oh my god I feel like I have been wandering the desert looking for water waiting to read this book. All the ones I have read recently have been so hit and miss and sadly more miss than hit that by the half way mark of this book I was almost scared to keep reading incase it was all going to go to shit because I am sure I would have broken down into huge, ugly, fist wailing sobs (not pretty people) but damn did Sara Ney nail this so hard.

I don’t even know where to start with this one just damn. It ticked every one of my boxes as well as tickling my box ;)

Sassy, smart arse non virgin heroine
Sexy, douchebag, man whore hero
Sexy sports uniforms that leave little to the imagination
Dirty talking douchebag

I honestly could just keep right on ticking off things I loved about this book, in fact there was very little I didn’t like. I mean there was one moment there were I was about to have a hissy fit but then when I realised Sara hadn’t crushed all my hopes and dreams of a five star read I actually felt like she earnt a high five for giving me a heart attack.

All of the characters were just perfect, even the arsehole secondary ones that I loved to hate and I am so signing up for the rest of this series. I had laugh out loud moments, I had soaked panty squirming and head palm, eye rolling I just couldn’t put it down. The Texts From Last Night hashtags had me laughing so hard I had to read them all out to hubby. It was so well rounded with sexy, sweet, funny in perfect quantities. I seriously loved it all. I could just keep right on ranting.

I know!!! I KNOW!!!

What was I thinking? Seriously did I have my brain replaced with piss?
Possibly..

Just look at the fucking title I should be running away...

I apparently thought it was a great idea to read the damn thing

I do not know if this is normal.. However, sometimes I get this incredibly violent and disturbing thoughts..
You know those of aggression and insane frustration which makes me want to force the other person to understand the extent of my feelings..
like this idiot:

or authors who blatantly display sexism, perpetuate assault as a joke, bigotry and just shame human beings with their work

I should get that looked at by a doctor..the condition

I do not provide examples because they just anger me so I do not highlight nor bookmark such dreadful material.

I will say this..
THE AUTHOR HAS NO GRASP ON REALITY OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
...it happens.. really because you have not ever been to one ever!

Living in bumbfuck middle of nowhere... naturally there aren't many universities nor normal education.
Your ideas on men's acceptable behaviour is quite evidently shown through your work which is questionable

one more thing .. who in this fucking day and age wears pearls everyday? A university going woman with the Kardashian and Jenner era...??

Where according to your pea sized motherfucking brain it is normal to criticize and degrade a women on her choice of clothing, sex practises and breathing...

I see no connection between the MC's, the fucking plot is just ridiculous. The author's attempt at foreshadowing or really use of any literary device is laughable!

The author has no limits for decency..

I SAW 0-ZEROOO REDEEMING FACTORS WITHIN THE BOOK, THE MC'S OR THE AUTHOR

P.S: If ANYONE has issues with my opinion..please kindly fuck off. I mean any part that displeases you I can talk about it but I am stating basic concepts here and if you have issues with that... It tells me a lot about you. Thank you for taking the time to read!

No one likes douchebags, but for some reason, we're attracted to them anyway... this series is just that, a bunch of douchebags, and the women who go out with them. 😋

📚 “𝗪𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗳𝘂𝗹,” 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀. “𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹, 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.” 📚

Sebastian Osborne (Oz) is a classic 'douch' - a popular college athlete (refreshing change: a wrestling star 👊) hot, arrogant, has a dirty mouth and friends who are no less douchebags than him... 😈💥
Jameson Clark (James) is a quiet girl who does not want distractions from school. She's studying regularly in the library wearing a cardigan, a pearl necklace and an "I'm not here to play games" attitude. 😍📖
They meet at the library when Oz was betting his friends he could kiss the nerdy cardigan girl... James agrees so he could share the money with her - and so they become friends. 💋

📚 "𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗯𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻." 📚

I loved the sexual tension and laughed at the dialogues and banters. I loved the process Oz went through, from a 'douche' to Prince ... and I loved that he was attracted to James just the way she was, without having to change. 👏❤

What I did not like is that James is a pretty mysterious character and there is not much information about her (e.g., what does her name mean?!) Plus, the whole part of falling in love was too fast. There were also some unnecessary parts (like the ski trip) and stupid things they did, but in college guys say, think, and do things that are not always mature... so okay. 🤷‍♀️

Each chapter begins with an hilarious sentence that "describes the character" about sex and relationships... and that was ingenious!!!! I started each one with a smile. for example:
📚 “𝗜 𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝘅 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘁𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗸. 𝗜 𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄.” 📚

So despite the things that bothered me, I recommend this book to anyone who wants a light, funny and a bit foolish comedy. 💞

‏I listened to the audio version (which was amazing)

I realize I'm once again in the minority here. I really really wanted to love this book. The characters really grabbed hold of me. The cover was cute and different enough that it caught my eye immediately. The story had great appeal and it was one of those books where it felt like it coulda, shoulda, woulda been one of those off-the-chart 5 star reads. The banter and sexual innuendoes were quite witty and entertaining.

But -- yes, I had some bigger problems. Main thing was the rush to the end and just fell apart for me. And I am really confused on why we never really learned anything about Jameson's family. She literally never mentioned them, and also the reasoning behind her name. (You'll understand if you read this book.) There seemed to be so much left unsaid about her character -- undeveloped in too many ways. Sebastian was a little more developed. I had a few questions about the relationship between him and Zeke, who'll get his story told in the next installment so maybe we'll learn more at that point. There were also some sloppy edits that didn't get picked up.

Cute, fun-to-read, and definitely hot and sexy. Just didn't hit the mark with me like I was expecting.

Every now and then, a college/sports romance hits all the right spots and I love them. This is one of them. I loved this book very much despite my age of 50!

*It is funny... hilarious at times.
*It is witty, full of good banter.

*The hero is a man-whore but the heroine gives as good as she gets. She is a sassy, witty, smart heroine with a brilliant sense of humor.

*There is no stupid angst.

*There is no cheating but beware! When you read the sex scene with another person, do not throw your book away, keep calm, be patient and keep on reading.

It is near 300 hundred pages so it is not a simple short read. The characters are well-developed, the dialogues are satisfying and as the first book to the series, it allows you to get to know the hero of the second book (Zeke) as a side character here.

Is the hero a douchebag as the title suggests?

Well, as far as the dictionary definition of douchebag is concerned, which is “An obnoxious or contemptible man”, no, he is not. He is a non-committing man-whore at his worst but he is very sweet, humorous and sincere. His blunt honesty is just adorable.

I loved everything about this book.
And the best thing about it for me was the ongoing banter and the chase, I mean, his hard work to get her and her making him work for it :)

Is there anything so different or non-cliché about it?
Well, maybe not but there isn’t anything I would want to change in it, it is a great “light, fun and hot read”. Whenever you want to “feel good”, you can try it. It sure made me feel good.

This book is about Sebastian Oz, the school athlete for the wrestling team and Jameson (weird name for a girl?) Clark, who looks like a nerdy prude but when you get to know her, she is not like that at all. Even she herself says to him at the beginning to never judge a girl by her cardigan! Smooth :) And they are both 21 years old.

Their first encounter is based on a bet but then their growing interest and attraction keep them together. Everything happens slowly but there is not one moment you will get bored, every chapter is fun. Jameson is the first girl who expects respect from him before she has sex with him and I loved how she earned both his respect and love.

Yummy!

Oh, each chapter begins with a douchebag quote such as the ones below - they are funny indeed :)

Some other quotes from the book...

“I saw the way she blew you off, and it’s not the blowing you’re used to receiving.”

***

“I’ve decided if we’re not going to be fuck buddies—a bad decision on your part, I might add—then we can be friends of the non-fucking variety. The boring variety.”
“How magnanimous of you.”
He gives me a sidelong glance. “I know, right? I thought so, too.”
“That was sarcasm, Oz.”

***

“Honestly Oz? I have no idea what to say but no. No, I don’t want to have sex on these wrestling mats. I—that is not what I was expecting you to say.”

“What were you expecting. Are you asking me to commit to you Jameson? Because I don’t think I’m ready to be tied down by one person.”

***

“Chill out and take a nap with me. Be my calm.”
Be his calm? Be his calm.
“I’ll try,” I say breathily.

***

I study her then, gauging her mood. I mean, clearly she’s pissed, but calm, cool, and collected Jameson doesn’t fool me. Scares me a little, yes. Fools me, no. Too bad I have no idea how to proceed without getting myself into trouble. I proceed with caution.

***

“ You’re like a set of Legos with a million tiny pieces and terrible instructions, and I’m not sure where to stick what. And then I end up stepping on the pointy edges in the middle of the night, which hurts like a bitch.”... “That’s why I haven’t slept with you.”

What the fuck is she talking about?
“I’m not sure how to feel about being compared to a set of Legos.”

***

Jameson’s palm strokes my cheek and I bend my head, covering her lips with mine, breathe her in and out, then in again, like she’s the air I need to survive. Because she is. Somehow…

I won’t rate this book.
Because I knew that it wasn’t safe and I knew what happened at 15% would make me mad.

But I was curious.

Well, I must admit the book is brilliantly written, really really captivating; the writing itself deserves 5 stars. But not the story, btw. not the male character.

He was a douchebag. Ok, it was clear from the title :-), but also an a*shole and jerk!

The heroine was very likable, sassy bright girl (NOT a virgin!!! :-)). My only issue with her was her attraction to the hero, but it was a main plot, so it was a given.

My review won’t be long, just 2 points.
1.) At 15% - as the attraction between MCs was clear and the H really liked the h (even lusted after her) – the h witnessed him with OW (her hands in his pants). Short dialog between MCs and he was out to f*ck OW hard.
I can only speak for myself: it would be a HUGE NO for me to start smth romantic/sexual with a man whom I saw being intimate with OW, especially when he knew that I watched but did it anyway. Again, it’s totally IMO!
Possible solutions: amnesia, brain transplantation or unlimited female loyalty.
I don’t plan on the first two and don’t have the 3rd, so I just couldn’t accept their relationship. Thereto the hero was rude and sexists, the things he (and his friends) said and did were way out of my comfort zone!

2.) BUT!!! I would have rated this books with 5 stars, hell, 10 stars if only the scene where the heroine had sex with his roommate (before MCs were involved romantically) hadn’t been his dream, but reality!!!
Damn, I wish she had sex with OM! Women may/can/should (if they want of course) have casual sex!
And it would be epic if she did to him the same he did to her –“cheat in advance”. Unfortunately she was faithful to him from the day they met even if he wasn’t.

Warning: there was no actual cheating! After they came together no OW/OM. My reference to cheating in advance was based on the fact, that the hero continued to have sex with OWs after he met the h, even after he understood that he had feelings for her. The heroine saw him with OWs and knew about his sex-parades.

I need some study time with Oz.

I 've seen this book around over the last few months and seen some of my friends luv it so I just had to read it. The title is just brilliant and grab me straight away. Once I started the book it was hard to put down. I luvd the lil quotes at the start of every chapter they were so good. I was dyin to see what the author would write next haha. The story was really good I enjoyed seeing these characters get to together and see there feelings grow. Even though they were very different people they fit so well.

Jameson is a easy goin girl. She doesn't do much just studies hands with friends and goes to the odd party. James isn't really into boys until the gorgeous and very sexy Oz/Ozzy/Sebastian came annoying her in library one day. Asking her to kiss him for a bet. This is where there relationship started but James couldn't see this relationship goin anywhere even if the kiss was mind blowing.

Oz is a great wrestler and very popular with his team mates and the woman. Oz didn't have to worry about finding woman they would jump on him where ever him would go. Everyone but James she knew what he was like she had seen it with her own eyes. Oz just could stop thinking of James her sexy lil body the cute lil cardigans she would wear and they dawn pearls around her neck. He had to have her she wasn't like normal girls this just made her more appealing but he was goin to have to fight dirty to get her.

I can't wait to read more from this author and series. This is my first book from this author and differently won't be the last. I would highly recommend this book I luvd everything about.

Yeah, yeah, I loved the Douchebag by the end

I was just whining today, that it frustrates me that the hero has to start out as a douchewaffle. Ok, I kind of get it. How bloody awesome is it when you get to see the finished product and you can't help but love him.

I really enjoyed The Studying Hours. Yes, I initially had issues with Sebastian/Oz but I understood where he was coming from. I was literally experiencing the same dumbfounded surprise that James was suffering from. Could a wrestler be famous? Women throw themselves at Wrestlers just because they're the best? Hmmm...you learn something new every day.

I can admit to being a little like Jameson. I don't know a lot about sports and it always surprises me when fans go berserk. I thought James was a fantastic heroine. Her confidence and ability to put Sebastian in his place, made me laugh and like her even more. She wasn't content to be another notch on his bed which was refreshing. She stuck to her guns and made him work for it.

This was definitely a slow burn romance but never felt like it dragged. I needed time to forget Sebastian's sexual exploits that we get a glimpse of in the beginning. Once Oz and James come together, you know it's for the long haul. They sizzle but they also connect too.

Sara Net's style is clever and funny and I will definitely be going back for more.

DNF @15%

DNF Explanation: I know the title should be a clue but having read the author’s Three Little Lies series which has the most swoonworthy heroes, I had high hopes for the hero in this one. But Oz gets blow jobs and has sex with other girls all in the same heartbeat that he’s also intrigued by the heroine, encounters that the h either sees or can infer. Specially, when Oz acted like a total ass at @15% saying, “Instead of a blow job, I fuck the shit out of her [OW] against the wall. Because I don’t want to care. Because it feels good. Because I can,” I knew I couldn’t continue.

Not only does that gross me out but it presents a major roadblock in my ability to connect with the intended couple in a romance, and thus it goes on my DNF pile. The set up also felt a bit clichéd—a new adult premise done many times before. I really hope the author returns to the adorable Little Lies series and those awesome heroes without the OW/OM sex and drama. She had such a good thing going there. I’m still holding out hope for a book for Mason and Melody and definitely more of Cal and Gray.

“Shhhh,” she admonishes. “Quiet please. When you talk, it makes me want to slap some sense into you.”

Look.

If Sebastian Osborne were a real man, I would probably tell him to fuck off.

He‘s a pig, a total pervert. He constantly talks about sex, and his behavior toward women is highly questionable.

The feminist in me wanted to punch him in his perfectly chiseled face more than once. Yet the occasionally horny little devil on my shoulder found him quite hot.

Sometimes.

Okay, most of the time.

Jameson is also a babe, and I‘m glad she didn‘t let Oz get into her pants so quickly.

Their chemistry was great, their banter top-notch, and the fact that they became friends first made this an even better read. I will definitely come back for a reread.

THE BANTER IS THE BEST I'VE READ THIS WHOLE YEAR 🤣🤣🤣

No, but in all honesty, this was such a great story, CONSISTENTLY funny and chemistry filled throughout the book. NO third act break up! No miscommunication!

I know it's not the stuff for mental pondering, but it's the most fun I've had reading in a LONG time.

❌❌❌❌❌Some SPOILERS to convince you that this story is 🔥🔥🔥

- Hero's friend offers him 500$ to make the heroine kiss him. Instead of the hero lying, and then the whole stick of the book being the impending finding out about the bet, the hero tells the heroine RIGHT AWAY about the money, and she proposes to split the cost 50/50 🙌🙌

- When hero and heroine are about to have sex for the first time, he asks her about her wishes, and she very clearly states them: not a one night stand; no getting rid of her in the morning; and breakfast prepared for her by the hero himself. Can we PLEASE get more scenes like that? 👏👏👏👏

I really enjoyed this college rom-com. It’s the first sports romance I’ve read about wrestlers. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of wrestling. Big sweaty guys, grabbing each other in headlocks like elementary kids in a playground fight, rolling around on mats, and pinning each other down? Meh. And those unitard thingies they wear? I don’t care how much junk they show, they just aren’t sexy to me. I guess I’m in the minority because all the girls on campus get lady boners over the wrestlers. They must have a really sucky football team or something. Who knows? So yeah. The wrestlers are a big deal at this college and, apparently, the majority of them are big douche canoes.

Case in point: Oz. You know how in some books the hero seems like a jerk, but deep down inside he’s just hurt or insecure, but really sweet? Well, that’s not Oz. He genuinely is a Grade A, self-centered, sex on the brain douche. And the thing is, while he changes for the better, there are parts of him that remain douchey. Oddly enough, though, I really liked him. However, I wasn’t cool with how lewd his friends are towards women, and I thought he should have done more to defend the female population. His friend/teammate Zeke, in particular, is a prick of epic proportions, and I was less than satisfied that his involvement in Oz and James’s relationship remains unresolved.

I liked James. Her sarcasm, confidence, and take-no-crap attitude really won me over. The push and pull between her and Oz is highly enjoyable and I loved them together as a couple. I was pleasantly surprised that there’s little to no drama. This amusing story is also surprisingly sexy. I’m looking forward to reading more books in the series.

5 James & Oz Stars!!!!!

What's it about?: Two people met in a library. One is a cocky, over-confident, extremely good-looking, indulgently horny, campus douchebag. The other is a sassy, sarcastic, cardigan-wearing, highlighter-obsessed, sexy-librarian look-alike.
They have nothing in common.
They constantly argue.
And piss each other off.
They should absolutely hate one another!
Except... she just kissed him.
With tongue.
Passionately.
And nothing will ever be the same again!

The best bits: The male point of view here is hilarious! And the banter between the two characters is so sexually charged that the book is practically it's own battery! I found myself reading this with a giddy smirk stretched across my face the entire time... my cheeks hurt, my eyes blurred, and I couldn't pull myself away from page after page of comedy.

The worst bits: I can't tell you without giving away major plot lines. But about 57% through the book... brace yourself. You'll know when you read it. And you'll be knocked off your ass. I was. Almost destroyed my kindle. It was not a proud moment. (Keep in mind that at 58% you'll be practically cheering though, so hang in there!)

Recommended for: Everybody who likes great banter, cocky heroes, sexy McHotness, fiesty heroines, and cracking up.
This is a great friends-to-lovers romance, a great start to a new series, and a fabulously fun read!

5 Stars!!!
Mouse, meet cat. Meow.~Oz

Loved this one!! Enemies to lovers vibe and best friends to lovers. Oz was a cocky, sexy, sex obsessed wrestler full of tats.

Jameson was a cardigan wearing, sassy, sexy, studying, highlighting fool who was not falling for the douchebag Oz! Well....I guess she's aloud to change her mind. lol

“A little friendly advice?” Her pouty lips part and I’m drawn to them as they mutter, “Never judge a girl by her cardigan,” just loud enough for me to hear.~Jameson

Loved the beginning of every chapter!! I shared some of the sayings with you! I really wanted to share them all! But that would of been sooooo many status updates you might of kicked my ass! Haha!

These two cracked me up! Jameson was so damn funny!

“Maybe we could celebrate the big W with dinner.” I’d scrunched up my forehead, confused. “Big W?” My mind had gone immediately into the gutter: Big O. Orgasm. Big D. Dick. Oh god, it was official: I had sex on the brain twenty-four-seven, and there was only one person to blame.
“Big W stands for win.” He’d laughed. “What were you thinking it stood for?” “Definitely not that?” “What then?” “Big big things.”

Loved everything about this book until around 57%!! OMG!!!! I honestly didn't know what to think!!!! I was shocked, pissed and didn't know if I wanted to continue! Well I'm so glad I did! Power through people! Power through!! It was worth it!!

“Do you feel that, Jameson?” he implores breathlessly. “Can you feel it beating?” I can. “That’s for you. No one else makes me feel this way; no one has ever made me feel this way. No woman. No coach. No opponent makes my heart race the way—”

So glad I seen this new to me author on here! Loved it!!
