Warm Fuzzies (And Lots of Cold Weather Clothes) at Chanel's Fall 2010 Runway Show

This morning's Chanel show gave me chills. Literally.

This morning's Chanel show gave me chills. Literally.

The goosebumps were more from the runway show set--giant blocks of snow, supposedly chipped out of a Swedish iceberg then shipped to Paris--and not the sub-zero-suited threads, but it was the combo of both that had me shivering in my seat.

After the curtain rose on the runway, out came a stream of what can best be described as warm, fuzzy outfits...

Watch out North Face: Lagerfeld's taking a deep dive into cold weather clothes.

The winter bikini look gets a special shout-out. Just the thing for lounging by the ice float, don't you think?

...including some for the man in your life. (Or in someone's life)

If you're getting a little freaked out (like I was) about seeing piles and piles of Chebacca-like fur, take heart: Word in the Twitterverse is that all of the pelts are entirely faux and Lagerfeld reportedly said the whole show was "an ode to global warming." (Side note: I'm all for faux fur, but I'm pretty sure that slicing and dicing icebergs and shipping them around the world isn't the best way to help the cause--however since that rumor hasn't been confirmed, I'm going to skip the speech-ing and finger-waving.) It also seems possible that Karl's newish home in snow-capped Vermont gave him a new appreciation for a winter wonderland. Can't you see him wearing the floor-grazing faux fur coat, slicing into a hunk of Cabot cheese or digging into a pint of Ben & Jerry's? (Yeah, me neither.)

Meanwhile, if you're getting worried about all those Chanel-ophiles in Hollywood not having anything to wear next fall (oh, the horrors!) don't stress: While most of the runway looks seemed fit for a National Geographic correspondent covering polar bear mating in the Arctic Circle (and not, say, a gal going on a shopping expedition in Beverly Hills) there were still a few signature Chanel touches to file away in the daydream folder:

My brain is still thawing out from the show, so I'll leave it to you gals: In five words or less, how would you describe these cold weather styles? (What about the guy's!?) Which of these outfits do you like best? Is it ever cold enough in your neck of the woods to wear any of 'em?
