He received praise in France for his performances in "Summer Things" (2002) and "Strayed" (2003), both of which saw him earn nominations for Most Promising Actor at the Cesar Awards. In 2004, Ulliel won that award for his role in "A Very Long Engagement", and also won the Cesar Award for Best Actor for his role in Xavier Dolan's "It's Only the End of the World," in 2017.
