Christina Anne Hawthorne grew up in the northeast, but presently lives amidst the soaring peaks and winding rivers in northwest Montana with her two cats who double as critics. After a difficult childhood and a terrible illness she sought ways to heal, cope, and grow without depending upon the drugs her body little tolerated. For that reason, The Renaissance Cycle, her poetry collection, is an appropriate first book because it explores the themes most prevalent in her upcoming novels: hope, determination, thankfulness, finding our place in the world, and overcoming great odds. Her primary focus is the fantasy genre she discovered in her mid teens (not counting The Wizard of Oz watched on black and white television). Years later a unique fantasy world formed in her mind, the stories there not only containing distinctive magic, but also stressing adventure, mystery, and romance. Thus was Ontyre born, a land where magic replaces the mechanical age and electricity. Mammoths still roam the north. Werewolves often hunt in packs. Wizards and sorcerers are locked in opposition. If stolen lifeforce is used to reinforce magical ability it becomes an addiction. The last human refuge near the continent's center is all that remains of a vast empire long gone.
