Product Description
This tribute to Alexander McQueen (1969-2010) celebrates the genius of an iconic, imaginative, and inspirational fashion designer with more than 125 catwalk photographs of his work in addition to commentary from an experienced fashion journalist and tributes by prominent people in the fashion world. Also included are photographs from his last collection, presented at Paris Fashion Week in 2010, and hailed by international media and fashion reviewers.
The Guardian called it "truly spectacular...a triumph"; the L.A. Times praised it as "masterpieces... runway showstoppers"; The Telegraph raved "The designs were vivid, dramatic and evocative...an emphatic demonstration of the intense skill and artistry of McQueen" and The New York Times reviewed as "His vision of Gothic glory, with a world bathed in religious symbolism, was translated not just with immense subtlety and beauty but also with the urgent futurism that was the essence of his spirit."

McQueen's dramatic designs were artistically successful and internationally recognized. He earned the British Designer of the Year award four times and his work was particularly favored by his celebrity clients including Sarah Jessica Parker, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Bjork, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.

I just got back from seeing the McQueen exhibit at the Met. It was so beautiful, I knew I wanted more McQueen, anything. I'm so glad I didn't pay attention to the negative reviews. This book is a great companion book to the Met catalog. It's fun seeing the dresses on living people, and the photos are nice and clear and the quality of the paper is just fine. The color saturates nicely on it. Plus there were lots of outfits I hadn't seen before, that were not in the Met exhibit.
Maybe someday there will be a Big coffee table book that will make all us McQueen fans happy. For now, this book, in addition to the Met book, makes me very Happy :)

A family member studying fashion design and photography asked for this book as a gift. That is why the title of my review is "It was good, maybe." Nancy is an outstanding student with outstanding talent, so I can only assume that if she wants a book about MdQueen, it must be good.

Such a great overview of McQueen's life and past! Has photos of at least 2 pieces from each of his collections. The paperback is a nice size and easy to carry around.

I ordered this book for myself and friend. We both were pleased. I was not expecting a $100+ book, since it was only $19... For what it is, it is well done, with very nice full page color photos. Many of the gowns I had never seen. Being able to see the detail of his work (even in photo) was awesome.
When another book of McQueen's work comes out I will indeed consider buying it, but for now this is all there is available to me and I am grateful for the access to this one so soon after his death. Well done Kristin Knox, thank you.

Meine Empfehlung an jeden McQueen liebhaber! Ich selbst werde mir auch nochmal ( endlich ) eins für den Eigengebrauch kaufen.
