Chanel’s stage sets are almost always works of art unto themselves — and today’s backdrop for the fall/winter 2015 ready-to-wear collection didn’t disappoint. In Chanel’s usual Grand Palais location, Karl Lagerfeld cooked up a quintessential French brasserie, complete with croissants, tasses de café and working waiters. And the clothing he sent around the space reflected the same archetypical French sensibility, with added winks here and there to the restaurant set: apron skirts, logo bags shaped like plates and a sweater with a pocket just the right size to hold the newspaper one reads sitting outside of a cafe. The shoes were just as classic as the setting: a nude slingback with a black cap-toe detail and a low block heel. Très Parisian!
