Welcome to Greenwich Village
Greenwich Village is a New York City neighborhood with a rich history of the bohemian and social revolution movements; however, today the word that is most associated with Greenwich Village is Gentrification, as this area is particularly known for the city’s biggest university. New York University, or more commonly known as NYU. On today’s tour, through the examination of Greenwich Village’s transformation and role as a college town, we will explore the conflict between preservationist and gentrifiers. We will visit important historical sites, learn about their significance and study their current state in light of NYU expansion and gentrification.

Sneha Sajan is a Macaulay Honors Scholar and Law and Society major at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She is from Staten Island and is part of John Jay’s Bollywood Fusion Dance team, Jay Jashan. Vinila would like to say that Sneha is often called “Sneehaw”, but that is simply not true yet.

She is a native New Yorker, from the borough of Queens, who can often be found biking or attending a Mets game at Citi Field. And recently, she's been discovering the vegan eats that Manhattan has to offer.

He thinks Greenwich Village is okay, but is focused more on the great places to eat. He found hanging out with the Best Team was a lot of fun!
