Alejandro “Mono” Gonzalez is a contemporary street artist and printmaker from Chile. Gonzalez focuses on the social structures of society.

Mono Gonzalez was born in Curico, Chile in the year 1947.

The artist attended the University of Chile. After college he worked with government led by the president elect Allende. Allende’s government fell by a coup led by August Pinochet.

After Pinochet’s takeover of the government Gonzalez went underground and took various odd jobs including theater set designer and carpenter.

Recently he has created murals with world renown street artist INTI and Seth.

Alejandro Gonzalez has created a unique style that emphasis a good drawing and an excellent use of color. His work reminds me of Brazilian artist Romero Britto. My favorite works by the artist are his portraits.
