Well, we’ve got our central drama for this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — and hey, at least it came with a few fun facts! During the latest episode of the Bravo series, it became clear that much of this season’s big drama boils down to the fact that the women loudly spoke about threesomes when Denise Richards’ daughters and their friends were sitting at a nearby table. Yes, this is the same woman that has openly spoken about her husband’s rather large penis size and their adventures in happy endings, but she was sure not to do it in the presence of her children — and yes, two of which count Charlie Sheen as their father.

But after her teenage daughter Sammi confessed to Denise that she and her friends did hear the convos about threesomes while they were enjoying their ice cream sundaes, Denise got defensive. Which is why she brought it up to the ladies during their dinner at a swanky Santa Barbara hotel.

As they inquired about her career, including her current stint on The Bold and the Beautiful, Denise reflected on her big break in 1997’s Starship Troopers, explaining that she landed the role in Wild Things four months before the former film was released in theaters.

Lisa Rinna then wasted no time asking her pal, “What’s it like to shoot a threeway?”

Erika, with just a dash of snark, commented in her interview, “Are we talking about threesomes? Thank god there are no children present. Tender ears.”

“It’s uncomfortable,” Denise confirmed for the group. Dorit pressed on, asking, “How many takes?”

“We did a lot,” Denise told the table. “It’s weird but you just have to commit.” Though the arrival of a plate of roasted cauliflower wasn’t going to derail this conversation. “I will say this,” she continued, “When it was just her [Neve Campbell] and I, it was easier because you just feel like you’ll protect each other and you know different things you don’t want, that kind of thing. But the other part of it that wasn’t easier with that scene was knowing that people on the crew were, ‘Oh, two girls are kissing.'”

And did the ladies even appreciate that Sundae bar?

“What did your dad think?” Erika wanted to know.

“I told my mom the part because I didn’t want my dad obviously to see me in that situation,” Denise explained. “So I told my mom we were coming up so she had him leave the theater and she left with him too. He wouldn’t want to see his daughter that way anyway.” In her interview she went on to explain, “When I did Wild Things that was a tough decision for me because I was raised in a very conservative family and went to church every week. I was raised Catholic, I was a good Catholic girl.”

The actress also shared that her parents were ultimately supportive, saying, “My mom was actually the one that said, ‘If you feel this is something you want to do for your career then you just do it.'”

“Did you know when you booked the job you were gonna have to do it?” Teddi asked.

“Yeah, the language going back and forth to your agents and managers of how many, what nipple,” Denise laughed. She also shared that it was originally supposed to be one nipple “but it went to two.”

“How will you feel when your girls see it?” Rinna asked, and Denise got a little quieter when she responded, “Well I hope to God they don’t see it,” telling her friend they haven’t seen it, even though Rinna believes “They’ve probably seen it.” She even goes on to say, “I know they will [see it].”

“I don’t want them to have that visual,” Denise stated. “I didn’t think back then, ‘Shit, I wonder one day what my kids are gonna think.’ I really would’ve changed a lot if I did that.”

It’s at this point that Rinna reminisces about her girls reading her book with some frank sex talk back when they were just 11 years old. At first she thought, OMG, but then went on to share she became more comfortable with that information. “I was like, hey, I taught them how to do it right.”

Denise didn’t quite share that school of thought, telling her friends, “I’ve never talked about a threesome with my child before. I’m not a prude but that doesn’t mean I want my kids or their friends hearing adult conversations at my home.” She acknowledged that “Of course it’s not a thing they haven’t heard, I just didn’t want them to hear it from their mom and mom’s friends.” While the other women didn’t seem to understand and found Denise to be a bit hypocritical, it’s also easy to see why Denise continues to shield her children as much as she can (see: her ex-husband and his shenanigans). If they’re out in the world or online, sure, they might pick up something. But she doesn’t want to be responsible in her own backyard for filling their ears with info they don’t need to hear. Unfortunately, this isn’t the last they, or we, will hear of the threesome talk as it clearly continues into next week’s episode.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesday at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo.
