Abstract

A method to manage media files, each media file being characterized by a metadata and a data content to be rendered, said method comprising the steps of generating a catalog of media file entries, each media file entry corresponding to a media file, said step of generating a catalog comprising for each media file entry the steps of collecting the media file metadata of said media file, collecting an up -to -date address for retrieval of said data content of said media file, and computing a unique identifier at least on part of said media file metadata. The method further comprises the step of generating a playlist from media file entries selected in said catalog, said playlist comprising at least for each selected media file entry its unique identifier. Finally, for at least part of each selected media file entry of said playlist, its unique identifier is searched in the catalog, and the corresponding data content is retrieved from the up -to - date address associated to said unique identifier, and is rendered.
