Abstract

A system and method for discovering devices connected to a communications network that includes an agent installed on a first communications device connected to the network. The first device discovers the other devices in the network via the agent. The agent is also installed on the other devices within the network. The agent of each device can be delegated authority and capability, via communications from the first communications device, to automatically or otherwise download software patches and perform security compliance operations.
