Abstract

The invention is related to a method for updating network elements in a telecommunications network which comprises several network elements (N1, N2) which are connected to each other by means of data transmission links and which each have a unique address in the network. The data to be downloaded to the network elements is transmitted via the telecommunications network. In order to reduce the time required for the updates, an address message (SDA) is sent to all of the network elements for which the same data is to be downloaded before transmitting the data to be downloaded, the address message stating to the network element that it should use another network address in addition to its own address, this other address being the same for all of the network elements in question, and the data to be downloaded is transmitted simultaneously to all of the network elements in question by using the other network address for the transmission.
