I. mm W UNITED STATES PATENT oFFioE.-
- CHARLES FREDRICK WAL LERSTEDT. OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
COIN-PURSE.
Application filed \Iune 25.1
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES FREDRIoK VVALLERSTEDT, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Coin-Purses; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specifica tion.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in coin-purses; and the object of the invention is to produce a simple and efiicient device for carrying coins, each in a separate compartment and adapted to be conveniently withdrawn therefrom, the various tiers or rows of coin-holding compartments being adapted to be folded, one upon another, whereby the coins may be prevented from losing out of their pockets, and in the provision of means for fastening the purse folded.
My invention comprises various other details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be herein after fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View showing my coin-purse folded and hung to a belt. Fig. 2 is a sectional view transversely through the folded purse. Fig. 3 is a plan 'view of the purse open, and Fig. 4 is a sectional view on inc 4 4 of Fig. 3.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the back of the purse, which may be made of any suitable material and provided with the glovebutton fasteners C, which are adapted to en gage the sockets C in the flap of the purse Specification of Letters Patent.
E designates a piece of fabric, leather, or

other material, forming with the back a pocket for the reception of bills or coins.
Stitched or otherwise fastened to the piece E is a series of strips K, divided by a stitching or other fastening means into a series of openended loops N, each of a width adapted to receive a coin of a certain diameter, preferably a nickel, and the lower end of each loop has a recess N cut therein, whereby a coin contained within the loop may project suffi. ciently to enable a person to readily grasp the same and pull it from the loop.
In the drawings I have shown three rows of loops, each one adapted to contain a coin, and when the purse is folded in the manner shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings it will be noted that a fold will come opposite the open ends of the loops, thereby preventing their losing therefrom. A loop Q is secured to the purse, and by the provision of a suitable strap R the device may be conveniently carried upon a belt or otherwise supported.
From the foregoing it will be noted that by the provision of the device shown and described a simple and efficient means is provided for carrying coins, preferably nickels,
having the same at all times convenient for readyuse, such as paying street-car fares, &c. What I claim is A coin-purse comprising a front and a back piece, forming intermediate the same a pocket, a series of strips fastened to said front piece and forming open-ended loops which are in alinement with each other in rows, each loop having upon corresponding edges a cut-away portion, said cross-pieces adapted to fold one upon another, with the folds forming closures for the open ends of the loops, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES FREDRICK WALLERSTEDT.
