(Cl. 15038) This invention relates to money containers and, more particularly, to money containers which may be carried on the person and, if desired, attached to various parts of the persons body such as an arm or leg, or to a part of a garment, in concealed position.

One of the objects of the invention is to provide a money container of the indicated type which comprises a foldable pocket for paper money with a concealed access opening and with provision for attaching said pocket in various ways to certain parts of the wearers body or to part of a wearers garment concealed from view.

Another object is the provision of a money container of the indicated type with a pocket for paper money and with at least one additional pocket for coins or other articles.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a combination wallet and money container with provision for removable attachment of the money container within the Wallet either in concealed position or in a position in which it constitutes an inner partition wall of the wallet to form with confronting walls of the wallet a plurality of compartments.

The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will be fully understood from the following description considered in connection with the accompanying illustrative drawings.

FIG. 7 is a view similar to FIG. 5 showing the money receptacle positioned within the wallet as a partition to form a plurality of compartments therein;

FIG; 9 illustrates the manner in which the money receptacle may be attached to the leg of the wearer and concealed by a part of his garment, for example the leg of trousers or pajamas;

FIG. 12 is a detail view of an accessory for use in attaching the money container either to a part of the persons body or to a part of a garment of the person.

Referring now to the drawings in detail and first to the form of the invention illustrated by FIGS. 1-4, the money container, 10, which is preferably formed of perspirationresistant sheet vinyl plastic material, which is readily available on the market, but which can be formed of any other suitable material, comprises

12 and 14 stitched together along their opposite side edges and at one end of the pocket 15, as indicated at 16. The side wall 12 preferably terminates short of the opposite end 18 of the wall 14, as indicated at 20, to provide the pocket with an end access opening 22. Said opening 22 is closed by a flap 24 which is preferably integral with the wall 14 and is folded downwardly to overlie the wall 12 in the region of the access opening 22 so as to conceal said opening, the Side edges of said flap being stitched to the side edges of

12 and 14, preferably by the lines of

stitching

30 and 32 which may be continuous with the stitching 16 at the closed end of the pocket. An outer wall 34, which is smaller than wall 14, is secured to the latter by the horizontal line of stitching 36 and by parts of the

side edge stitching

30 and 32 to form a coin compartment or auxiliary pocket 38 having an access opening 40.

Walls

12 and 14 may be formed in one piece, as illustrated by FIG. 3, and include a dove-tailed tab 42 having the folded edge 44. The receptacle is provided with a second tab 46 which is secured to the pocket wall 34 and which is folded, as indicated at 48, and has its inner edge secured to wall 34 by the hemming stitching 50, as shown by FIG. 3. As shown by FIG. 3, the portion of wall 12 which forms the main pocket 15 of the container is inturned and stitched by the line of stitching 52, providing an inner recess 54 between wall 12 and its infolded portion 56. The outer part of the wall 12 at the region of the recess 54 is slit, as indicated at 58 in FIG. 1, to provide an accessopening for the insertion in said pocket of the attachment accessory 60 (FIG. 12), hereinafter described.

FIG. 4 shows the folded condition of the money container 10, the

12 and 14 being folded at the intermediate transverse fold line indicated at 62. The flap 24 is provided with a slit 64 in its folded edge 18 and tab 42 is inserted through said slit for

holding walls

12 and 14 releasably in folded condition. It will be noted that, as shown by FIG. 4, the attached end portions of

walls

12 and 14 as well as tab 42 are disposed inwardly of flap 24 in the folded condition of the container 10. If desired, tab 46 may be folded and inserted in slit 64, thus holding the upper edge of pocket wall 34 against wall 14 for closing access opening 40.

As illustrated by FIG. 5, the container 10 may be secured within a wallet 66 in position between an outer wall 68 of said pocket and an inner wall '70 which is foldably attached to the outer wall 68 only at the upper edge thereof and terminates in a free or unattached lower edge 72 so that wall 70 can be retracted from the compartment defined by

68 and 70 in their confronting relation, it being understood that the opposite ends of wall 7%) are free from attachment to the wallet. Said wall 70 is provided with slits 74 adjacent the opposite ends thereof to receive the

42 and 46 for releasably holding container 10 within the wallet 66 in substantially concealed position between the

68 and 70. Alternatively, as indicated by FIG. 7, the container 10 may be disposed within the main wallet compartment or pocket 76 and the

42 and 46 may be inserted through the slits 74 in wall 719 so as to divide the main compartment 76 into two compartments lying at opposite sides of the container 10.

FIG. 8 shows the container 10 attached to the bodice of a womans garment internally thereof by means of a safety pin 7 8, and prong of which extends through one of the

42 or 46.

FIG. 9 shows the money container10 fastened to a persons leg by means of the attachment accessory shown by FIG. 12. Said accessory 60 comprises a piece of elastic webbing 80 which is folded upon itself and stitched transversely, as indicated at 82, to receive the side 84 of a safety pin. For attaching the container 10 around the persons leg, one of the tabs 42 or do is provided with a safety pin, the fixed side 84 of said pin extending through the tab between the opposite sides thereof and attached to member 8%) at one end, the device he being attached to the other tab by a second safety pin attached to said elastic webbing member 81' at its opposite end. Either the sides 84 or the prongs of the safety pins may be disposed between the folded portions of the elastic webbing member at the opposite end thereof, thus securing the money container it preferably under tension, around the leg or angle of the person. in substantially the same way the money container could be fastened around the arm of the person under a sleeve of the shirt or coat of the wearer.

Referring now to the form of the invention illustrated by FIGS. 10 and 11, the money container is, in general, similar in construction to the container shown by FIGS. 1-4. In this form of the invention, the wall Tide is folded at its upper edge 3% providing one side wall 33 of a compartment 9d, the opposite side wall of said compartment being formed by a wall member @2 which is stitched to wall member 88 adiacent the free end 94 thereof by hem stitching 96. It will be noted that outer wall 92 of pocket 93 is in effect a closure ilap for the main pocket 15a and may be folded to a retracted position to allow for access to the main peeked through the access opening 22a. It will be understood that the container of the present invention may be attached to wearing apparel in concealed positions in various ways. For example, but without limitation, the container in either folded or unfolded condition can be pinned to the waistband of a skirt or trousers internally thereof, or in a trousers pocket, by pin which project through tabs 42, 4-5 or 42a, 45a or by a single pin in association with a single tab.

In the illustrated forms of the invention, access to

22 and 22a, respectively, may be folded down to a posi tion below the flap to facilitate access to compartments l5 and 15a, respectively. Also, as will be readily understood, the plastic walls or wall parts may be heat sealed in lieu of being stitched.

Vhile we have shown and described the preferred embodiment of our invention, it will be understood that the invention may be embodied otherwise than as herein specifically illustrated or described, and that certain changes in the form and arrangement of parts and in the specific manner of practicing the invention may be made without departing from the underlying idea or principles of this invention within the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimedis: 1. A personal money container, comprising opposite confronting side walls defining a pocket closed at one end and having an access opening at its opposite end, and a flap overlying and secured to at least one of said side walls at the opposite side edges of said one side wall and of said flap in the region of said access opening, said flap in said overlying position thereof oncealing said access opening and foldably movable to a retracted position for access to the interior of said pocket through said access opening, tabs projecting from the opposite ends, respectively, of said container, and a wallet a pocket provided with an inner wall provided with slits in which said tabs are engaged for releasably securing said container in said pocket of the wallet.

2. A personal money container, comprising opposite confronting side walls defining a pocket closed at one end and having an access opening at its opposite end, and a flap overlving and secured to at least one of said side walls at the opposite side edges of said one side t; and of said flap in the region or". said access opening, said flap in said overlying position thereof concealing said access opening and foldably movable to a retracted position for access to the interior of said pocket through said ac cess opening, said iiap having a free transverse edge portion disposed between the opposite ends of said side walls, and an interemdiate wall positioned between said flap and the side wall which said flap overlies, said last mentioned wall being secured to said transverse edge portion of the flap and to side edges of the flap to provide an auxiliary pocket.

3. A personal money container, comprising opposite confronting side walls defining a pocket closed at one end and having an access opening at its opposite end, and a flap overlying and secured to at least one of said side walls at the opposite side edges of said one side wall and of said tlap in th region of said access opening, said iiap in said overlying position thereof concealing said access opening and foldably movable to a retracted position for access to the interior of said pocket through said access opening, said iiap having a free transverse edge portion disposed between the opposite ends of said side walls, and an intermediate wall positioned between said iiap and the side wall which said flap overlies, said last mentioned wall being secured to said transverse edge portion of the flap and to side edges of the iiap to provide an auxiliary pocket, said intermediate wall being integral with one of said side walls at a fold line at one end of the container.

4. A personal money container, comprising opposite confronting side walls defining a pocket closed at one end and having an access opening at its opposite end, and a flap overlying and secured to at least one of said side walls at the opposite side edge of said one side wall and of said flap in the region of said access opening, said fiap in said overlying position thereof concealing said access opening and foidably movable lo a retracted position for access to the interior of said pocket through said access opening, said flap having a free transverse edge portion disposed between the opposite ends of said side walls, and an intermediate wail positioned between said flap and the side wall which said fiap overlies, said last mentioned wall being secured to said transverse edge portion of the flap and to side edges of the flap to provide an auxiliary pocket, said intermediate wall being integral with one of said side wall at a fold line at one end of the container, said last mentioned side wall having a slit at said line of fold and a tab on said flap, releasaoly engageable in said slit for closing said auxiliary pocket.

A. personal money container, comprising opposite confronting side walls defining a pocket closed at one end and having an access opening at its opposite end, and a flap overlying and secured to at least one of said side Walls at the opposite side edges of said one side wall and of said flap in the region of said access opening, said Flap in said overlying position thereof concealing said access opening and foldably movable to a retracted position for access to the interior of said pocket through said access opening, said fiap having a free transverse edge portion disposed between the opposite ends of said side walls, and an intermediate wall positioned between said flap and the side wall which said flap overlies, said last mentioned wall being secured to said transverse edge portion of the flap and to side edges of the ilap to provide an auxiliary pocket, said intermediate wall being integral with one or" said side walls at a fold line at one end of the container,

said last mentioned side wall having a slit at said line of fold and a tab extending from the opposite end of said container releasably engageable in said slit for holding said container folded along a transverse line located between and parallel to the opposite ends of the container.

6. A personal money container comprising a pair of confronting foldable side walls defining a pocket, one of said walls have a free end portion extending transversely of the inner side of the other of said walls and positioned between the opposite ends of said other wall and thereby providing said pocket with an access opening, said one of the side walls extending toward one end of said other Wall, a flap extending from said access opening toward the opposite end of said other wall at the inner side thereof, said flap having a free end portion in the region of said access opening overlapping the outer side of said one of said Walls in said regions, said free end portion of said flap being positioned between the opposite ends of said other wall, said container having a slit in communication with the inner side of said flap and positioned remote from said one wall, and from the free end of said flap, and a tab on said container in the region of one end thereof remote from said slit removably engageable in said slit, when said pocket is folded along a transverse line between the opposite ends of the pocket, for releasably securing said pocket in said folded condition.

A personal money container comprising a pair of confronting foldable side walls defining a pocket, one of said walls having a free end portion extending transverse- 13 of the inner side of the other of said walls and positioned between the opposite ends of said other wall and thereby providing said pocket with an access opening,

said one of the side walls extending toward one end of said other wall, a flap extending from said access opening toward the opposite end of said other wall at the inner side thereof, said flap having a free end portion in the region of said access opening overlapping the outer side of said one of said walls in said region, said free end portion of said flap being positioned between the opposite ends of said other wall, said container having a slit in communication with the inner side of said flap and positioned remote from one end of said one wall and from the free end of said flap, and, a tab on said container in the region of one end thereof remote from said slit removably engageable in said slit, when said pocket is folded along a transverse line between the opposite ends of the pocket, for releasably securing said pocket in said folded condition, said tab having an open ended loop to receive a fastener for securing the pocket to a persons article of wearing apparel.

Claims

1. A PERSONAL MONEY CONTAINER, COMPRISING OPPOSITE CONFRONTING SIDE WALLS DEFINING A POCKET CLOSED AT ONE END AND HAVING AN ACCESS OPENING AT ITS OPPOSITE END, AND A FLAP OVERLYING AND SECURED TO AT LEAST ONE OF SAID SIDE WALLS AT THE OPPOSITE SIDE EDGES OF SAID ONE SIDE WALL AND OF SAID FLAP IN THE REGION OF SAID ACCESS OPENING, SAID FLAP IN SAID OVERLYING POSITION THEREOF CONCEALING SAID ACCESS OPENING AND FOLDABLY MOVABLE TO A RETRACTED POSITION FOR ACCESS TO THE INTERIOR OF SAID POCKET THROUGH SAID ACCESS OPENING, TABS PROJECTING FROM THE OPPOSITE ENDS, RESPECTIVELY, OF SAID CONTAINER, AND A WALLET HAVING A POCKET PROVIDED WITH AN INNER WALL PROVIDED WITH SLITS IN WHICH SAID TABS ARE ENGAGED FOR RELEASABLY SECURING SAID CONTAINER IN SAID POCKET OF THE WALLET.
