Description

The invention relates to methods for automating an Ra dars with synthetic aperture (SAR) and flight control of a manned or unmanned carrier and a facility for Execution of the procedure.

Damit ermöglicht das interferometrische SAR eine dreidimensionale Abbildung des überflogenen Gebiets.SAR is an active microwave imaging system that is based on be moved platforms like an airplane or a Satelli ten is operated. Areas flown over become two-dimensional mapped, in the direction of distance and in flight direction, the so-called azimuth direction. The preserved images Solutions have a geometric resolution that is in range direction through the bandwidth of the transmission signal and in azimuth direction by length of the synthetic antenna antenna is determined. Using SAR interferometry in addition to the two-dimensional image, a very precise terrain Determine the model of the recorded area. This enables the interferometric SAR is a three-dimensional image of the overflown area.

The interferometric method is based on the Aus evaluation of a phase difference of the backscatter signal of two  radar antennas separated by the baseline. The radar with synthetic aperture (SAR) is a complex device and has an egg ne variety of actuators, which are individually for each flight geo metry must be set.

Von Satelliten getragene SAR-Systeme werden mittels Telemetrie gesteuert, d. h. die Stellglieder des SAR-Systems werden von Operateuren in der Bodenstation während der Abbildung fernge steuert.SAR systems carried by satellites are used by telemetry controlled, d. H. the actuators of the SAR system are operated by Operators in the ground station during the fernge illustration controls.

From US 5,430,445 is a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) in Known connection with an unmanned guided missile. Here at a carrier aircraft also has a SAR system that fully automatically with the SAR system of the guided missile men works. Furthermore, in US 5,432,520 a method for ge precisely determine a distance to a target object from a moving aircraft known, among other things with egg is equipped with a SAR system. Furthermore, US 5,260,709 autonomous weapon system described with a SAR system. Here is used by both in the above-mentioned publication systems described, a GPS and an inertial Navigation system used.

Finally, US 5,021,789 is an aircraft-borne one SAR system known that by means of a programmable Signalpro cessors (PSP) and a GPC (General-Purpose Computer) computer from one ground station through various terminals Operators can be controlled.

Operational, carried by pilot-controlled aircraft SAR systems are averaged from two to three, at least but operated by a flying surgeon. Basically becomes the radar for an exposure by the surgeon (s)  set and only when instructed by the pilot Radar data recording started and stopped.

Both for satellites and airplanes SAR systems are therefore operators for operating the SAR-Sy have been irreplaceable during the recording period. At aircraft-borne SAR systems do this because of the deployment cost most at increased operating costs of the radar system as well also because of the weight of the surgeon, especially with Klein planes to shorten the flight time. It also harbors Operation of SAR systems by partly on the instructions of the Pi Operators are becoming aware of the risk of operator errors learn the surgeon in himself.

The object of the invention is therefore to create a radar system fen that automatically and independently, d. H. without operator in the form of surgeons, working during a flight. According to the invention, this object is in Automa processes of a radar with a synthetic aperture (SAR) and the Flight guidance of a manned or unmanned carrier through the Features solved in claim 1 or 2. Furthermore, according to the Er Invention facilities for performing the process fen.

According to preferred embodiments of the Ver First, flight control and radar parameters are driven on the ground entered and these parameters by data carrier or by radio transmitted to the radar. Then the radar over the span power supply of the carrier switched on and leads one Self test through. The radar then reads the parameter set of the next recording route to be flown and takes the recording setting.

Immediately after the start of a manned vehicle or with the radar takes over the start of an unmanned vehicle entire flight guidance up to the target approach of a manned carrier or until an unmanned carrier lands. After arrival one at the previously programmed calibration point on the one hand the radar is calibrated automatically and on the other hand also make the necessary readjustments automatically taken. At the programmed starting point of the first recording automatically transmits the radar, takes that along the area on the first recording route and leads a da processing by.

After reaching the end point of the first recording route the data recording is kept and checked. If you get If the recordings are OK, the starting point is the second shot and flown in this way one after the other all further recording routes to be flown flown and recorded using the radar. After the The end point of the last recording distance has been reached Radar turned off and the manned or unmanned carrier, generally an airplane, is returned to the starting point leads.

The main difference to the previously used and SAR uptake methods described above and the large one Advantage of the method according to the invention is that  not a single operator to operate the Ra during the flight darsystems is required. Furthermore, in contrast to the previous, carried out by manned carriers or aircraft ten recordings using SAR radar, at which start of transmission and End of transmission of the radar on reaching the starting point or End point of each take-up section at the instruction of the pilot had to be turned on or off, according to the Erfin the SAR system automatically when a preprogrammed and entered start or end point every recording route automatically, especially without instructions from the pilot, switched on and off, because as before already running the entire, pre-programmed flight guidance and recording using the SAR system from Radarsy stem is controlled, controlled and monitored, and not, as before, for example by the pilot of an aircraft.

If, after flying over an admission route at the control le of the recorded data it is found that the above taken data are not correct and / or the requirements are not sufficient, the Flight tours depending on the quality of each recorded images or also on "instruction" of the Radar system again the starting point of the just flown Controlled route and the same recording route again flown. Only after that from the last shot the Radarsy becomes perfect recordings stem preprogrammed off and generally to the Starting position, d. H. returned to the airport by wel chem from which the plane took off.

With the invention, SAR recordings can thus be very cost-effective be created continuously and without errors, without the use of Operating personnel in the form of at least one surgeon and an aircraft crew may be necessary. The too the latter case requires autopilot equipment to do so  an aircraft using the radar system according to the invention can be performed so that all operating tasks, näm Starting, flight guidance and landing of the aircraft, unmanned have it carried out. This opens up the possibility that Method according to the invention for high-resolution images and Reconnaissance of areas with unmanned aerial vehicles Zen.

The invention also enables accurate real-time detection of Position and position data of an aircraft and the simultaneous Control of the entire radar system and flight guidance possible.

Preferred embodiments of an invention are described below method according to the invention and a device for performing described in detail with reference to the drawings ben.

Fig. 2 shows a preferred embodiment of a device for performing the method.

In order to implement the method according to the invention, an overall system in FIG. 2 has a radar control system 1000 and SAR system 2000 housed in the aircraft and a flight planning computer 3000, generally located on the ground, with an input computer 3010 .

The radar control system 1000 has a control unit 1060 , which receives a flight program via a data carrier 1050 , for example a magnetic medium or by radio. The control unit 1060 stores all parameters and operating reports in an associated recording unit 1010 ′ evaluates the measured values of an inertial navigation system 1030 and a real-time D-GPS (“Differential Global Positioning”) system 1020 and outputs the movement data to the SAR System 2000 onwards. A pilot screen 1040 is connected to the control unit 1060 .

The control unit 1060 also checks the function of the SAR system 2000 , sets the radar parameters of the respective exposure route to be flown during the flight to the first, second and further exposure routes, guides the pilot via the pilot screen 1040 to the starting point of the first Recording route, then starts and stops in good time a recording unit 2060 for recording raw data and a recording unit 2080 for recording SAR products of the SAR system 2000 and repeats the above steps until all programmed recording routes are covered.

If there is direct control to an autopilot equipment 1070 , the control unit 1060 controls a plane directly, so that it is operated unmanned, that is, started, flown and landed.

The SAR system 2000 has an internal bus 2090 , via which the control unit 1060 has direct access to all subsystems of the SAR system 2000 . The SAR system 2000 receives both control commands and the aircraft movement data from the radar control unit 1060 . Via the bus 2090 , the raw radar data are stored in the recording unit 2060 and the SAR results or products in the recording unit 2080 .

Furthermore, a transmitter / receiver unit 2020 is provided in the SAR system 2000 , to which two antennas 2021 and 2022 are assigned in the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 2. However, any number of antennas can be used with the SAR System 2000 . In the SAR system 2000 , a buffer 2040 is also provided, to which data is supplied from the transmitter / receiver unit 2020 via an A / D converter 2030 . The buffer 2040 is connected to a formatter 2050 and a real time processor 2070 . Data is supplied from the formatter 2050 to the raw data recording unit 2060 and from the real-time processor 2070 data to the unit 2080 recording SAR products.

As can be seen from the flowchart in FIG. 1A, parameters for radar control and for flight guidance on the ground are entered in step S1 with the aid of input computer 3010 of flight planning computer 3000 , which receives the flight and radar parameters interactively from an operator.

The input parameters are checked at step S2, and if they are OK, the next step is performed. If they are not in order, the error is displayed and step S1 is repeated in whole or in part. The flight program created from the input parameters and the radar parameters are stored on the portable storage medium 1050 , for example a floppy disk, and transmitted in step S3 via the storage medium 1050 or by radio to the control unit 1060 in the aircraft.

The above steps 1 to 3 are both in Case of a manned as well as in the case of an unmanned flight stuff done. In both cases, however, is the stake of a radar operator is not required. With a data The flight program can be transmitted by radio during a flight Change flight, for example, a shooting distance and / or radar parameters repeated, canceled or changed  will.

Für jede Flugmission sind folgende Flugführungsparameter er forderlich:The following flight control parameters are required for each flight mission conducive:

  • - eine Bezeichnung des Projektes, des Gebietes, der Meß- oder Aufnahmestrecke und des Befliegungsgebiets mit Namen und/oder Zahlen, damit jeweils eine eindeutige Zuordnung zu einer Flug mission vorhanden ist;- a designation of the project, the area, the measurement or Recording route and the area of the flight with names and / or Numbers, so that each one is clearly assigned to a flight mission exists;
  • - Anfangs- und Endposition jeder Aufnahmestrecke. Die beiden Angaben können jedoch auch aus anderen Angaben ermittelt wer den, wie beispielsweise aus Mittelpunkt, Länge und Richtung der Aufnahmestrecke.- Start and end position of each recording section. • - Eine Abtastfrequenz CTC wird aus der geometrischen Auflösung berechnet.- A sampling frequency CTC is derived from the geometric resolution calculated.
Ausschalten des SAR-Systems 2000 festgelegt.- Time periods for switching the recording system on and off are defined, as are time periods for switching the SAR system 2000 on and off.

In step S4, the radar control system 1000 and the SAR system 2000 are switched on via the voltage supply of the aircraft, in particular the internal bus 2090 being activated. All other units 2020 to 2080 of the SAR system 2000 are switched on by the control unit 1060 only after a predetermined period of time via the internal bus 2090 . Then a self-test of the Ra dars is carried out in step S5.

After performing a self-test, the SAR system 2000 reports to the control unit 1060 of its operating state.

If the SAR system 2000 is not functional, the pilot receives an error message on the pilot screen 1040 and must land for maintenance. In the case of an unmanned aircraft, the carrier is returned to the maintenance location. If the SAR system 2000 is operational, the pilot receives a "system ready" display on the pilot screen 1040 ; in the case of an unmanned aircraft, the flight continues.

In step S6, the radar is programmed with the parameters of the first and all further distances to be flown on. The pilot is guided via the pilot screen 1040 , on which both all information about a flight and the state of the radar system are recorded. The pilot screen 1040 has a representation similar to a screen of existing landing approaches.

For this purpose, the position and position data of the aircraft are determined with high precision by the control unit 1060 from inertial navigation and real-time D-GPS data from the inertial navigation system 1030 or the real-time D-GPS system 1020 . The inertial navigation system 1030 also detects the position data and the short-term position data of the aircraft. The real-time D-GPS system 1020 captures the long-term position data of the aircraft. The data of the inertial navigation system 1030 and the real-time D-GPS system 1020 are combined by a known Kalman filter method and the movement of the aircraft is determined so precisely that the SAR image is then calculated without distortion and the aircraft is guided precisely becomes.

All movement data of the inertial navigation system 1030 , the real-time D-GPS system 1020 , the inputs to the pilot screen 1040 or the autopilot 1070 (in the case of an unmanned aircraft), the radar parameters and some internal parameters of the control unit 1060 are in the control data - Recording system 1010 saved. As a result, all the processes and operations of the overall system formed from the radar control system 1000 , the SAR system 2000 and the input system 3000 are then logged.

If there is no GPS ground station, the GPS ver do not operate differentially. Such Operating mode is possible, but then the accuracy of long-term position data worse.

Then, in step S7 ( FIG. 1B), an arrival of the manned or unmanned carrier at the so-called calibration point is checked. The query or check in step S7 is only symbolic; the radar system waits until the manned or unmanned carrier reaches the calibration point; ie the carrier remains on hold until it is above the calibration point; only then will calibration begin automatically.

When the aircraft arrives at the calibration point is taken, the radar is automatically kali in step S8 calibrated and readjustments, such as for example the AGC and StC values.

Then an arrival at the starting point of the first recording route is expected. As soon as the starting point of the first recording section is reached, the SAR system 2000 begins to transmit via the transmitter / receiver unit 2020 in step S9. The transmitter / receiver unit 2020 transmits a radar pulse, which has the frequency Fs, the polarization P, the band-wide Bs, the duration Ds, the power W and the pulse repetition frequency PRF, via the two antennas 2021 and 2022 with a depression angle .

The radar backscatter signal is amplified by the transmitter / receiver unit 2020 , taking into account the AGC value and the STC curve, and after a distance delay is digitized by the A / D converter 2030 with the sampling rate CTC and with Bt sampling and cached on the buffer 2040 . The buffer data is then read and forwarded to formatter 2050 and real-time processor 2070 .

Produkte:The formatter 2050 performs data reduction if necessary and inserts the GPS time and date, the channel and radar line number into the radar data stream and forwards it to the raw data recording unit 2060 . The raw data recording unit 2060 in turn waits for the signal from the control unit 1060 , which arrives after a predetermined period of time before the start of the recording route. The real-time processor 2060 processes the raw data stream and thereby creates, for example, the following results or products:

  • - ein SAR-Bild in Schrägentfernungsprojektion,- a SAR image in oblique distance projection,
  • - ein Geländemodell in Schrägentfernungsprojektion,- a terrain model in oblique distance projection,
  • - ein vollgeocodiertes und -kalibriertes SAR-Bild,- a fully geocoded and calibrated SAR image,
  • - ein vollgeocodiertes Geländemodell und aus dem SAR-Bild und einem Geländemodell abgeleitete thematische, topographische oder sonstige Karten.- a fully geocoded terrain model and from the SAR image and a thematic, topographical derived from a terrain model or other cards.

The SAR results are forwarded to the unit 2080 recording these SAR results or products together with the additional information, GPS time, GPS date, channel and line number. The recording unit 2080 in turn waits for a signal from the control unit 1060 that has already arrived before the start of the first recording path. The introduction of the GPS time, GPS date, channel and line number into the recording units 2060 and 2080 enables precise synchronization both with one another and with respect to the control data recording unit 1010 . In addition, localization of the corresponding data record after the measurement flight is very simplified.

An interferometric SAR recording is then carried out via two radar channels, with one channel being assigned to one antenna 2021 and the other second channel to the other antenna 2022 , for example. If several frequencies and / or polarizations are required, several channels must be set up. In order to design the radar system easily 'Sen sen and receiving the channels are performed in time division multiplex. As a result, the hardware expenditure is reduced since all channels are not operated at the same time; however, a significantly higher pulse repetition frequency PRF is necessary.

When the end of the first recording path is reached, the recording units 2060 and 2080 are stopped and brought into the waiting state. The raw data and the SAR product record in the units 2060 and 2080 are then checked for their correctness in step 510.

If the radar recording was successful ("yes" in step S11), it is checked in step S12 whether or not it was the last recording section. If "no", step S6 in FIG. 1A is returned to. If an error has occurred and the radar recording was therefore unsuccessful ("no" in step S11), the procedure goes back to step S7.

If "no" is decided at step S11, the Pilot instructed to take the flight route just flown again record while the unmanned vehicle is on the program guidance back to the beginning of the incorrectly recorded Recording route is returned.

If it is determined in step S12 that the last recording route has been successfully flown, that is to say the SAR images have been found to be correct after checking, step S13 takes place while the pilot is on the screen 1040 or in the case of an unmanned vehicle Aircraft by means of the autopilot 1070 the carrier is returned to the destination airport, the SAR radar system 2000 is switched off by the control unit 1060 a predetermined time before the landing.

In addition to the application described above, the inventive Procedure also for LIDAR and forward view radar systems (FLAR) be used.
